I bet you can almost feel the flaky crust as you bite into it… What is a Turnover?Ī turnover is a triangle shaped pastry filled with an apple filling, that is baked into a flaky, golden brown treat. These are such an easy treat made with simple ingredients! You will never buy turnovers from the grocery store again. The tart flavor pairs nicely with sweet glaze. They also make great cider )īut aside from that, what can you do with apples? One of my favorite things to make with them is an apple turnover. Oh, and before I forget, each of these little beauties are only 140 calories.I am blessed to live pretty close to quite a few of them and plan on going apple picking when the time is right. I was inspired to make Apple Pie because my friend Meggan from Culinary Hill has been on a mission to create the ultimate Apple Pie. To assemble, all you have to do is reheat the Apple Pie Filling in the microwave until warm (not hot), then scoop it into the cups and top with cream. The wonton cups can be stored for a couple of days in an airtight container, and the Apple Pie Filling can be made the day before, as can the cream. The other great thing about these little treats is that you can prepare all the elements in advance and assemble it just prior to serving. The big difference is that you save yourself the time cutting out pastry rounds because the wonton wrappers are the perfect size for making cups using muffin trays.
